Waad Al-Shamal Industrial City
Prince Faisal bin Khalid Bin Abdulaziz, Emir of the Northern Borders Province, launched a number of development and investment projects in Waad Al-Shamal Industrial City, with investments nearing SAR 29 billion.
The launch ceremony was attended by the Minister of Industries and Mineral Resources Bandar Alkhorayef, Vice Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources Khalid Almudaifer, and a number of official from the public and private sectors, SPA reported.
The Prince launched the construction of Maaden‘s Phosphate project 3, with an estimated investment of SAR 28 billion, which is one of the largest mining projects in the region and is backed by the “Shareek” program. The project is set to boost phosphate production in the Kingdom to reach 9 million tons per year, including Phosphate 1 and 2 projects with a production of 3 million tons each, contributing to the development of the industrial supply chain and creating more investment and job opportunities.
Furthermore, the Prince inaugurated the expansion of Maaden’s residential city in Waad Al Shamal, which includes three new buildings, each containing 32 residential units, bringing the total to 96 residential units, each with an area of 51 sqm, in addition to the 483 residential units in the first phase of the city.
He also inaugurated a number of industrial, logistics and service projects implemented by the Saudi Authority for Industrial Cities and Technology Zones (MODON) with investments of more than SAR 550 million. They include the infrastructure development project in the industrial zone with an area of 4.3 million sqm, the establishment of 32 ready-made units consisting of 20 ready-made plants and 12 support units with a total area of 45,000 sqm, and a 132 kV power substation, aerial transmission lines and the bridge linking to the International Road with a length of more than seven km.
According to Argaam’s data, Maaden signed a number of contracts last month related to the development of the third phosphate fertilizers manufacturing project, at a value of SAR 3.5 billion.
