Classes to begin between 9 and 10 am nationwide as Ramadan school timings announced in Saudi Arabia

RIYADH — Education departments across various regions of Saudi Arabia have approved revised school schedules for the upcoming holy month of Ramadan. In several regions, classes will commence at 9 a.m., while others will begin at 9:30 a.m. or 10 a.m. These adjustments reflect the departments’ commitment to fostering an appropriate learning environment for students and staff, in consideration of the unique spiritual and daily rhythms of the holy month. The General Directorate of Education in the Qassim Region announced that the school day in public schools will begin at 10 a.m., while classes in adult education institutions will start at 9:30 p.m. The directorate further clarified that teaching and administrative staff are required to report 15 minutes prior to the start of the first class period. Similarly, the General Directorate of Education in the Makkah Region confirmed that morning schools will begin at 9 a.m., while adult education classes will commence at 9:30 p.m. The directorate also stated that official working hours for all employees during Ramadan will be five hours per day, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., ensuring the continued efficiency of operations and the maintenance of administrative discipline throughout the month. It emphasized that these arrangements are designed to accommodate the conditions of fasting while striking a careful balance between educational responsibilities and the observance of Ramadan. School officials were urged to adhere strictly to the approved schedules and to collaborate closely with the wider educational community to ensure the smooth conduct of the school day and the attainment of the highest standards of academic performance and discipline.For its part, the Education Department in Riyadh announced that morning classes will begin at 9 a.m., while continuing education schools will start at 9 p.m. In the Eastern Province and the Tabuk Region, school days will commence at 9:30 a.m., with continuing education classes beginning at 9 p.m.In Al-Baha Region, Director General of Education Dr. Abdulkhaliq Al-Zahrani stated that public and private schools, as well as kindergartens, will begin at 9 a.m., while continuing education classes will start at 9 p.m. Each class period during Ramadan will last 35 minutes. The General Directorate of Education in the Al-Jouf Region announced that school hours for general education institutions will begin at 9:30 a.m., while continuing education schools will start at 9 p.m., with the first period commencing promptly at that time. The directorate underscored the importance of informing both general and continuing education students of the revised schedules and adhering strictly to the announced timings.
