“Tariff wars, trade wars, and technology wars go against historical trends and economic rules, and there will be no winners,” Xi said of China-US relations while meeting several heads of multilateral financial institutions in Beijing.

Xi expressed full confidence in China’s ability to achieve its growth target for this year and affirmed that the country will continue to play its role as the largest driver of global economic growth, Xinhua reported.

These statements preceded the official inauguration of US President-elect Donald Trump in January. Trump has threatened to impose a 60% tariff on all goods imported from China and recently stated that he might add an additional 10%.
