RIYADH — The General Authority for the Care of the Two Holy Mosques has introduced a barcode-based system to indicate crowd density for Umrah rituals during the current holy month of Ramadan. Activated at the beginning of Ramadan, this electronic service enables visitors at the Grand Mosque to monitor crowd levels during Tawaf and Sa’i, two main rituals of Umrah pilgrimage. The system displays density classifications—light, moderate, or heavy—through color-coded indicators, providing real-time updates that help pilgrims identify the least crowded periods to perform their rituals with greater ease and comfort. On Friday, the Grand Mosque witnessed a significant influx of worshippers and pilgrims for the first Friday prayer of the holy month. Field and organizational efforts were seamlessly coordinated to ensure the comfort of attendees and the smooth flow of movement. The measures taken included effective crowd management, the facilitation of entry and exit procedures, meticulous attention to cleanliness and sanitation, as well as the provision of guidance and advisory services. These collective efforts contributed to fostering a comprehensive worship environment marked by serenity and tranquility.
