Saudi banks’ investments in treasury bonds increased by about SAR 13.4 billion month-on-month (MoM) to SAR 636.3 billion in June.
Government bonds made up 74% of banks’ total claims on the public and quasi-public sectors in Saudi Arabia by the end of the same month.
Government bonds include internationally issued government sukuk and bonds that banks buy from the secondary market.
Meanwhile, SAMA’s assets shrank by SAR 43 billion to nearly SAR 1.95 trillion in June.
