The Saudi Exchange’s (Tadawul) main index TASI ended 2024 with a slight increase of 0.58%, despite global challenges such as rising interest rates and fluctuations in oil prices. This led to a divergence in the performance of sectors, while the focus on value and growth companies was the most successful bet, said analysts, whose views were surveyed by Argaam.
Meanwhile, the momentum of IPO activity, which witnessed the listing of 14 new companies, boosted the market depth and increased liquidity, but was not significantly reflected on the main index due to the limited weight of these companies, they added.
The analysts also pointed out that the return of former US President Donald Trump may affect oil markets due to his expected policies, which may lead to increased volatility, indicating that Tadawul is expected to leverage on the stabilization of regional relations and the promotion of major projects.
According to analysts, the year 2025 holds growth opportunities in key sectors, including mining, insurance, renewable energy, and car rental, backed by continued government spending and expected interest rates falling to 3.9%. They noted that oil prices and geopolitical stability will likely be decisive factors in determining the market’s trend next year.
