RIYADH — Minister of Media Salman Al-Dossary stated that this year’sFounding Day celebrations will reflect the spirit of Ramadan through the presentation of high-quality educational and cultural programs. He reaffirmed that laws and regulations will be strictly enforced against those who disseminate rumors or misinformation.The minister made these remarks during a government press conference organized by the Ministry of Media to strengthen government communication and keep the public informed of key national developments.Al-Dossary emphasized that humanitarian aid represents the Kingdom’s enduring approach and universal language. He noted that national decisions are guided by a careful assessment of current opportunities and a strategic focus on projects that deliver the greatest economic return—an approach designed to accelerate progress and maximize impact.He stated that, since its founding, the Kingdom’s mission has been to serve Islam and Muslims—a steadfast commitment reflected in its achievements and aspirations. This dedication is embodied in the promotion of moderation and peace, a message that originated in this land and has resonated globally. He added that 2026 will mark a pivotal milestone in the Kingdom’s journey, coinciding with the tenth anniversary of the launch of Vision 2030.Al-Dossary revealed that the number of Umrah pilgrims increased from 8.5 million in 2019 to more than 18 million foreign pilgrims in 2025. Pilgrim satisfaction rates also rose significantly, from 80 percent in 2019 to 94 percent in 2025, surpassing the targets set under Vision 2030.He further noted that the Saudi Media Forum, which concluded on February 11, achieved a global reach exceeding five billion media impressions and launched 20 high-quality initiatives aimed at advancing media innovation. The forum also set a new world record, receiving a Guinness World Record certificate as the largest media event globally, with attendance surpassing 65,000 participants.Al-Dossary highlighted that the Public Investment Fund Private Sector Forum, held earlier this month, resulted in the signing of more than 135 memoranda of understanding valued at SR60 billion. “Work in the Kingdom never ceases, and the nation continues its steady march forward,” he said.Regarding the World Defense Show 2026, held last week, the minister reported that the exhibition attracted more than 137,000 visitors and featured 1,500 exhibiting companies representing 90 countries. Purchase agreements signed during the event amounted to SR33 billion.He also underscored the growth of the communications and information technology sector, which generated 406,000 jobs by the end of 2025, compared to 250,000 in 2018. The sector’s market size expanded to approximately SR190 billion in 2025, reflecting cumulative growth of 80 percent.Al-Dossary added that by the end of November 2025, 100,000 social security beneficiaries had been empowered through employment, training, and economic support programs. Saudization rates in several specialized professions have also increased to 70 percent.According to the minister, the number of registered healthcare practitioners surpassed 800,000 by the end of last year, marking an annual growth rate exceeding 8 percent. He also noted the graduation of 5,500 physicians from the Saudi Board—the largest cohort in the program’s history—and the launch of 28 development projects in Yemen with Saudi support.
