AL-BAHA — Over 4 million cubic meters of floodwater have been collected at several dams in Al-Baha due to recent heavy rainfall across the region. The recorded levels of rainwater storage capacity, with total inflows from runoff, are approximately 4,674,638 cubic meters, driven by heavy rainfall across most of the region’s governorates and cities. **media[2689325]** The branch of the Saudi Irrigation Organization explained that between March 19 and April 6, the region experienced significant flood inflows affecting several governorates, most notably Al-Aqiq, Al-Makhwah, Al-Hajrah, Qilwah, and Ghamid Al-Zinad. **media[2689323]** This led to the formation of multiple valleys and to dams receiving large volumes of water, significantly impacting them. Among them are dams in Al-Aqiq, Tharad, Al-Ahsabah, and Duqah, whichreceived substantial floodwaters. Meanwhile, several others reached full capacity, such as Dharak Dam and Al-Mazlimat Dam in Al-Mandaq Governorate, Jarab Dam in Al-Aqiq Governorate, Al-Khalah Dam in Baljurashi Governorate, and Al-Nasbah Dam in Ghamid Al-Zinad Governorate. **media[2689328]** Despite the sudden high water volumes, the situation was managed in line with approved emergency plans, and dam gates and valves operated in a controlled manner to discharge water, ensure the safety of water infrastructure, and protect surrounding areas. **media[2689326]** Out of Al-Baha’s 50 dams — distributed across its governorates in both the Sarat and Tihama sectors — six of them are designated for drinking water, along with underground dams for potable use, while 35 small- and medium-sized dams are used for recharge. These dams play a crucial role in temporarily storing rainwater and regulating its use for agriculture, which largely depends on seasonal rainfall. **media[2689324]**
