This aims to protect workers and minimize the impact of unpaid wages during periods when establishments are unable to meet wage obligations.

The ministry stated that coverage for expatriate workers under this product will begin today, Oct. 6, 2024.

The insurance, offered by local companies, covers expatriate workers’ wages if employers fail to pay, following the terms and benefits outlined in the policy. Benefits include, for example, a travel ticket if the worker wishes to return home.

This initiative supports the development of the labor market by safeguarding contractual rights between workers and employers, improving the market’s appeal and efficiency locally and globally.

It also aligns with other measures, like the wage protection system and contract documentation, to protect both parties’ rights in labor relations.
