ADEN — Yemen’s internationally recognized government on Sunday approved a draft law designating the Houthi militia as a terrorist organization and criminalizing its activities and financing.The decision was taken during a Cabinet meeting in the temporary capital, Aden, chaired by Prime Minister Shaya Al-Zindani, according to a statement issued by the prime minister’s office.The Cabinet approved the draft law following a presentation by the minister of legal affairs and directed the relevant authorities to complete the constitutional and legal procedures necessary for its ratification.During the meeting, the Cabinet said Yemen had entered a “decisive stage” in its efforts to restore state sovereignty over the country’s entire territory and end the Houthi coup “financed and directed by Iran.”Al-Zindani instructed executive authorities to shift from reacting to developments toward proactive measures, emphasizing the need to strengthen operational readiness and provide the necessary support to the armed forces, military formations, security forces and Popular Resistance.The prime minister stressed the importance of mobilizing government resources to support ongoing military and security operations as fighting intensifies across the country.The draft legislation must complete the required constitutional and legal procedures before it can take effect.
