KYIV — At least one person was killed and six others injured in overnight Russian attacks on Ukraine, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Sunday, as Moscow targeted key bridges in the capital for a fourth consecutive day.Zelenskyy said a Russian drone again struck the Pivnichnyi Bridge in Kyiv, while other attacks hit a medical supply warehouse in Sumy and a communications facility in Dnipro.Russia launched 135 attack drones overnight, more than 50 of them jet-powered, targeting residential buildings and critical infrastructure in the Kyiv, Dnipro, Kharkiv, Donetsk and Sumy regions, as well as Zaporizhzhia, Zelenskyy said.“There are power outages in some communities. Our services are working at the impact sites,” he said.Zelenskyy said Russia had launched more than 1,900 attack drones, 1,700 aerial bombs and 25 missiles against Ukraine over the past week.“More than 800 of the drones were jet-powered, and Russia must be held accountable for this escalation,” he said.The Ukrainian president also welcomed German Chancellor Friedrich Merz to Kyiv on Sunday, saying the two countries were preparing agreements aimed at strengthening Ukraine and Europe’s defense capabilities.“We are grateful for all the support, and today we are preparing decisions to give us in Ukraine, and all of Europe, greater capabilities to defend ourselves,” Zelenskyy said. “There will be important agreements between Ukraine and Germany. Russia must be stopped together.”Meanwhile, Russia’s Defense Ministry said its forces continued strikes on Ukrainian port infrastructure and maritime vessels it alleged were supporting Ukrainian troops.The ministry said a dry-cargo vessel carrying military supplies for Ukrainian forces was hit by a drone at sea east of Odesa. It also reported airstrikes on a UAV command post and temporary Ukrainian troop deployment sites in the Donetsk and Sumy regions.Russia also said its air defenses intercepted or destroyed 559 Ukrainian fixed-wing drones over several Russian regions, annexed Crimea and the Black and Azov seas.
