The decline in unemployment rates in Saudi Arabia is driven by the creation of new jobs for citizens, particularly in specialized professions and activities that do not require higher degrees or certifications, Majed Al-Dahwi, Deputy Minister of Human Resources and Social Development, said.

This effort aims to increase Saudi participation in the labor market and localize jobs based on the competitive advantage of each region.

In an interview with Al-Eqtisadiah newspaper, Al-Dhahwi explained that the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development (HRSD) launched several initiatives to create an attractive labor market for both local and global talent. These initiatives have helped cut unemployment rates and increased citizen participation in the workforce.

According to available data on Argaam, the unemployment rate among Saudis in the second quarter of 2024 dropped to its lowest level on record since 1999 at 7.1%, compared to 7.6% in Q1 2024.
