ISLAMABAD — At least 11 people were killed and 20 others injured in an explosion at a police checkpoint in northwestern Pakistan on Saturday, according to local authorities.The explosion occurred at a checkpoint in Dera Ismail Khan near the border between Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan provinces, local newspaper Dawn reported.Rescue 1122 said the dead included eight men, two women and a child. Rescue teams continued operations at the scene, recovering victims from the debris.Police said several people, including police officers, customs personnel and two civilians, were among the injured.Bomb disposal teams were deployed to the site to determine the cause of the explosion.The checkpoint is used by police to conduct security checks along the Dera Ismail Khan-Quetta route.
