Heavy thunderstorms, flash flood risk forecast across parts of Saudi Arabia

JEDDAH — Moderate to heavy thunderstorms that could lead to flash floods are forecast across parts of Jazan, Asir and Al-Baha, as well as the highlands of the Makkah and Madinah on Sunday, according to the National Center for Meteorology (NCM). The thunderstorms are expected to be accompanied by hail and active winds stirring up dust and sand, while fog may also form over parts of the highlands in those regions as well as over parts of Najran and the southern parts of the Eastern Province. Meanwhile, moderate to heavy thunderstorms, active winds and blowing dust are forecast in Makkah and Madinah. Abha, Jazan, and Al-Baha are forecast to see moderate to heavy thunderstorms and active winds, blowing dust for Jazan. Jeddah and Najran are forecast to experience thunderclouds, active winds, with blowing dust and fog for Jeddah. Riyadh, Tabuk, Arar and Sakaka are forecast to see stable weather, while Buraidah and Hail are expected to be clear to partly cloudy. For temperatures, Madinah and Dammam are forecast to record the highest temperatures at 44°C, followed by Riyadh and Buraidah at 43°C and Makkah at 42°C. Temperatures are expected to reach 41°C in Hail, 40°C in Arar, 39°C in Tabuk and Sakaka, 38°C in Jazan, 37°C in Jeddah and Najran, 30°C in Abha and 29°C in Al-Baha.
