RIYADH — Saudi traffic authorities have set a fine of SR6,000 for holding car races or driving in convoys on public roads without obtaining a permit. The Traffic Department stated on its X platform account that the minimum fine is SR3,000. Field and undercover teams within traffic departments across Saudi cities are working to track down unlicensed racers and refer them to the relevant authorities. Such unauthorized races disrupt traffic flow and pose a serious threat to the safety of other road users. It is worthy to note that stringent traffic plans have succeeded in curbing the phenomenon of reckless driving, which was previously a major cause of accidents and tragic incidents.
