The Royal Commission for Riyadh City’s (RCRC) board of directors announced today, Aug. 27, the launch of the “Riyadh Digital District,” a key strategic initiative aimed at making the capital a global hub for technology talent and digital innovation. 
The district aims to attract global tech talent and establish an international center bringing together talent and entrepreneurship, ultimately building a strong knowledge-based economy driven by digital leadership and technological innovation, the commission said.
The district will focus on attracting specialized technology companies and talent across six key fields: artificial intelligence and big data, cybersecurity, cloud computing and services, the Internet of Things, blockchain technology, and robotics and drones.
These six fields account for the majority of global investment in technology innovation companies, highlighting their central role in driving future growth and development, it said.
Ibrahim Al-Sultan, Minister of State, Cabinet Member and CEO of RCRC, said the initiative aims to make Riyadh a global destination for talent, international technology companies and digital entrepreneurship, and place the city among the world’s top 10 technology hubs.
The move reflects the leadership’s commitment to positioning the capital as a global leader in promising future sectors, in line with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 goals of building a diversified, prosperous economy driven by digital leadership and technological innovation, while also seeking to strengthen the Kingdom’s role in digital transformation and foster initiatives that promote creativity and anticipate the future.
