NEW YORK — Saudi Arabia’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Dr. Abdulaziz Alwasil emphasized that attacks targeting Sudan’s unity, sovereignty, and the integrity of its institutions have exacerbated the humanitarian crisis and widened the scope of conflict and insecurity. Addressing a UN Security Council session on the humanitarian situation in Sudan, he stressed the importance of upholding the commitments under the Jeddah Platform and complying with relevant Security Council resolutions. Alwasil strongly condemned the violations and attacks perpetrated by the Rapid Support Forces against civilians, particularly in North and South Kordofan, which have resulted in casualties and damage to civilian facilities and humanitarian aid convoys.He noted the Kingdom’s continued support for the Sudanese people, highlighting that it has provided $100 million through the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief), while the total value of Saudi humanitarian and development aid to Sudan has exceeded $3.1 billion.
