RIYADH —A total of 34.29 million pieces of extremist content were removed and 1,275 channels, which were used to spread and promote such materials, were shut down during the first half of 2026. This was made possible through the joint cooperation between the Global Center for Combating Extremist Ideology (Etidal) and the Telegram platform. The efforts are part of their ongoing cooperation to combat extremist propaganda in the digital space.The total number of extremist materials removed since the start of cooperation between Etidal and Telegram in February 2022 through June 30, 2026, reached 292.6 million. During the same period, 20,360 channels were closed.The continuation of this cooperation underscores the effectiveness of the joint efforts between Etidal and Telegram in limiting the spread of extremist propaganda and contributing to a safer and more secure digital environment.
