Arab countries, regional organizations condemn attempted attacks on Saudi oil facilities

RIYADH — Several Arab countries and regional organizations strongly condemned the attempted drone attacks targeting oil facilities in Saudi Arabia’s Eastern Province and Riyadh. The eight Arab countries and two regional organizations reaffirmed solidarity with the Kingdom and support for its measures to safeguard its security and stability. From regional organizations, the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and Arab Parliament both condemned the attempted UAV attack, describing it as a flagrant violation of international law, and a direct threat to the security and stability of the region. GCC Secretary-General Jasem Albudaiwi condemned the attempted UAV attack, saying it was launched by Iran-backed militias in Iraq and describing it as a dangerous escalation. Albudaiwi reaffirmed the GCC’s full solidarity with Saudi Arabia and its support for all measures the Kingdom takes to safeguard its security, sovereignty, and territorial integrity. Arab Parliament Speaker Mohammed Al-Yamahi reaffirmed the Arab Parliament’s full solidarity with Saudi Arabia and stressed that the Kingdom’s security is an integral part of Arab national security, while expressing support for all measures taken to safeguard its territory and national assets. Amongst regional nations, Bahrain also condemned in the strongest terms what it described as the attempted terrorist attack targeting oil facilities in Saudi Arabia’s Eastern and Riyadh regions using drones launched from Iraqi territory by Iranian-backed terrorist militias. The Bahraini Foreign Ministry described the attack as a flagrant violation of international law and the UN Charter, a challenge to UN Security Council Resolution 2817, a threat to regional security, stability and energy supplies, and an attempt to undermine de-escalation efforts. The ministry reaffirmed Bahrain’s full solidarity with Saudi Arabia and its support for all measures taken by the Kingdom to safeguard its sovereignty, security and stability, stressing that Saudi Arabia’s security is an integral part of Bahrain’s national security and the security of the region. Bahrain also reiterated the GCC’s call for the swift implementation of the Iraqi government’s decision to place all weapons under state control and urged decisive measures to prevent Iraqi territory from being used to launch attacks against countries in the region. Similarly, Kuwait condemned the attacks carried out using drones launched by Iran-affiliated militias from Iraqi territory, describing them as a blatant violation of Saudi Arabia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and a breach of international law, the UN Charter, and UN Security Council Resolution 2817. Kuwait reaffirmed its full solidarity with Saudi Arabia and support for all measures taken to safeguard the Kingdom’s security and sovereignty, stressing that Saudi Arabia’s security is inseparable from the security of Kuwait and the other GCC member states. Qatar likewise condemned the attacks, describing them as a flagrant violation of Saudi Arabia’s sovereignty and a threat to its security, stability and territorial integrity, as well as a violation of international law, the UN Charter and the principles of good neighborliness. The Qatari Foreign Ministry reiterated Qatar’s full solidarity with Saudi Arabia and its support for all legitimate measures taken by the Kingdom to preserve its sovereignty, security and territorial integrity. The United Arab Emirates also condemned the drone attacks launched from Iraqi territory, describing them as a flagrant violation of Saudi Arabia’s sovereignty and a threat to its security. The UAE Foreign Ministry reaffirmed the country’s full solidarity with Saudi Arabia and its support for all measures aimed at safeguarding the Kingdom’s security and stability. Egypt also condemned the UAV attacks, describing them as a violation of Saudi Arabia’s security and stability and an escalation that threatens regional security and stability. It also rejected all attacks targeting Saudi Arabia and other Arab states, and called for an immediate halt to such attacks. The country’s Foreign Ministry renewed Cairo’s full solidarity with Saudi Arabia and its for measures to preserve its security and stability. Oman condemned the UAV attack as well and reaffirmed its solidarity with Saudi Arabia and support for all measures taken by the Kingdom to safeguard its sovereignty, security and territorial integrity. The Omani Foreign Ministry also stressed the importance of halting such attacks and avoiding actions that threaten regional security and stability. Libya also condemned the attempted attack on Saudi oil and vital facilities, describing it as an attack on civilian infrastructure and a threat to global energy security and stability. The Libyan Foreign Ministry and International Cooperation reaffirmed its full solidarity with Saudi Arabia and support for measures taken by the Kingdom to protect its security and vital facilities, while calling for de-escalation and the use of diplomatic means to resolve disputes and prevent further regional tensions. Palestine condemned the attacks, reaffirming its rejection of any aggression that undermines Saudi Arabia’s security and sovereignty or threatens regional stability. The Palestinian presidency expressed full solidarity with the Kingdom’s leadership and people, reaffirmed its support for Saudi Arabia in confronting threats to its security and stability, and stressed the importance of respecting state sovereignty and adhering to the principles of international law.
