Oil prices rose by more than 2% in early session today, July 20, as the United States imposed a blockade on Iranian ports and continued its military attacks for the ninth consecutive night.
Brent crude futures hit their highest level since June 11, extending gains after rising 15.9% last week—their biggest weekly increase since April, Reuters reported.
Iran’s Revolutionary Guard announced that two oil tankers exploded and were disabled after attempting to cross what it described as an “unsafe” route in the Strait of Hormuz, claiming that the US military encouraged them to use this passage.
Data from the LSEG group showed that the number of ships that crossed the strait yesterday, fell to just four, compared to eight the previous day.
