DOHA — Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani received regional and international leaders, senior officials and dignitaries at Lusail Palace on Monday as they offered condolences following the death of his father, former Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani.According to the Qatar News Agency (QNA), those paying their respects included Bahrain’s Crown Prince and Prime Minister Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Kuwait’s Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam and Rwandan President Paul Kagame.Sheikh Hamad died on Sunday at the age of 74 and was laid to rest later that day at Lusail Cemetery in Doha.Qatar has declared four days of national mourning following the former emir’s death.Sheikh Hamad came to power in 1995 and transferred authority to his son, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, on June 25, 2013.
