Washington described the reported attacks on tankers as a violation of the ceasefire
US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced early today, July 8, that the military had begun carrying out a series of strikes against Tehran in response to what it said were Iranian attacks on three tankers in the Strait of Hormuz.
CENTCOM said its forces launched “a series of powerful strikes” to impose a heavy cost on Iran for targeting commercial shipping, describing the attacks as “unprovoked, dangerous, and a clear violation of the ceasefire.”
CENTCOM did not specify the targets of the strikes. Iranian media, meanwhile, reported that six projectiles struck the Tahrouyi pier area in the southern city of Sirik.
