Loans granted to private sector accounted for 93% of total loans: SAMA

Loans granted by Saudi banks to non-financial government entities (NFGEs) and the private sector rose 7% to SAR 3.5 trillion by the end of May 2026, compared to almost SAR 3.27 trillion in the same month a year earlier, data issued by Saudi Central Bank (SAMA) showed.

Loans granted to the private sector accounted for 93% of total loans, while loans granted to NFGEs represented the remaining 7%.

Bank loans to the private sector increased by 7% year-on-year (YoY) to SAR 3.25 trillion for the same month, the central bank said.

Meanwhile, loans granted to NFGEs jumped 14% YoY to about SAR 253.8 billion by the end of May.
