The port welcomed the Saudi-flagged vessel Folk Jubail as the first ship to operate on the new service.
Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani) launched the Red Sea Express container service at King Fahad Industrial Port in Yanbu in partnership with Folk Maritime, SABIC, and Red Sea Gateway Terminal (RSGT).
The port welcomed the Saudi-flagged vessel Folk Jubail as the first ship to operate on the new service, carrying the port’s inaugural container shipment with a capacity of 1,100 TEUs.
According to Mawani, the new service will connect King Fahad Industrial Port in Yanbu with Jeddah Islamic Port through a coastal shipping network, while also linking both ports with Aqaba Port in Jordan and Ain Sokhna Port in Egypt. The route is expected to provide direct export channels for Saudi products and shorten transit times.
In a post on X, SABIC said it exported its first container shipment of polymer products via the new shipping service.
