Consumer spending in Saudi Arabia increased to SAR 133.9 billion in April

Consumer spending in Saudi Arabia increased to SAR 133.9 billion in April, up 18% from nearly SAR 113.9 billion in April 2025.

Consumer spending in the Kingdom includes total cash withdrawals, point-of-sale (POS) transactions, and e-commerce sales through the Mada network.

According to monthly data from the Saudi Central Bank (SAMA), POS sales in Saudi Arabia rose by 12% year-on-year (YoY) to about SAR 58.4 billion in April.

The data showed that these sales were conducted through 1.04 billion transactions across 2.5 million POS terminals.

POS transactions represent consumer spending using debit and credit cards at shopping malls, retail stores, pharmacies, and other outlets.

Meanwhile, cash withdrawals from ATMs rose by around 10% YoY to approximately SAR 42.4 billion in April.

These withdrawals were made through 14,500 ATMs operated by banks and the Saudi network across 132.7 million transactions. The total number of issued bank cards reached 67.9 million.

E-commerce sales via Mada cards surged to SAR 33.2 billion in April, up 43% YoY.

According to SAMA data, these transactions were carried out through 183.4 million operations.

E-commerce sales via Mada cards include transactions made through online shopping websites and applications using Mada cards, and exclude transactions conducted via Visa, Mastercard, and other credit cards.
