Chemicals and related products made up 20% of Saudi Arabia’s non-oil exports in March: GASTAT
Saudi Arabia’s exports of chemical products and related industries dropped 39% year-on-year (YoY) to nearly SAR 4.56 billion in March 2026.
The value of chemical products exports hit its lowest level since 2020, mainly due to the geopolitical crisis stemming from the US-Iran war, which led to the closure of the Strait of Hormuz.
On a monthly basis, exports retreated by SAR 2.39 billion, or 34%, compared with February, according to data from the General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT).
Chemicals and related products made up 20% of the Kingdom’s non-oil exports, which totaled SAR 22.7 billion during the month.
India was the largest importer of Saudi chemicals, receiving nearly SAR 988 million worth, or 22% of total chemical exports. It was followed by China with 9%.
