US President Donald Trump said he had put on hold a planned strike on Iran that was scheduled for Tuesday, citing requests from Middle Eastern leaders amid ongoing negotiations.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump said he instructed Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Dan Caine, and the US military not to carry out the attack.

However, Trump said he had ordered preparations for a comprehensive and large-scale strike on Iran to remain in place should negotiations fail to produce an acceptable agreement.
