Kuwait says hostile drones detected in its airspace amid regional tensions Kuwait says hostile drones detected in its airspace amid regional tensions

KUWAIT CITY — Kuwait’s Ministry of Defense said on Sunday that “a number of hostile drones” were detected in the country’s airspace as tensions continue to escalate between Iran and the United States. In a statement carried by the Kuwaiti army on X, Ministry spokesman Colonel Staff Saud Abdulaziz Al-Atwan said the drones were “dealt with according to approved procedures.”He added that the Kuwaiti armed forces remain “fully ready” to protect the country’s security and ensure the safety of citizens and residents. The development comes amid heightened regional tensions following US and Israeli strikes against Iran on Feb. 28, which triggered attacks by Tehran against Israel and US allies in the Gulf region, alongside the closure of the Strait of Hormuz.A ceasefire took effect on April 8 through Pakistani mediation efforts, but negotiations held later in Islamabad failed to produce a permanent agreement. The truce was later extended by US President Donald Trump without a specified deadline, allowing diplomatic efforts to continue toward a broader resolution to the conflict.
