Consumer spending in Saudi Arabia increased to SAR 150.1 billion in March 2026, up 1% from nearly SAR 148 billion in March 2025.

Consumer spending in the Kingdom includes total cash withdrawals, point-of-sale (POS) transactions, and e-commerce sales through the Mada network.

According to monthly data from the Saudi Central Bank (SAMA), POS sales in Saudi Arabia rose by 1% year-on-year (YoY) to about SAR 66.1 billion in March.

The data showed that these sales were conducted through 997.2 million transactions across 2.4 million POS terminals.

POS transactions represent consumer spending using debit and credit cards at shopping malls, retail stores, pharmacies, and other outlets.

Meanwhile, cash withdrawals from ATMs declined by around 11% YoY to approximately SAR 48.6 billion in March.

These withdrawals were made through 14,500 ATMs operated by banks and the Saudi network across 125.1 million transactions. The total number of issued bank cards reached 66.9 million.

E-commerce sales via Mada cards surged to SAR 35.4 billion in March, up 28% YoY.

According to SAMA data, these transactions were carried out through 200.3 million operations.

E-commerce sales via Mada cards include transactions made through online shopping websites and applications using Mada cards, and exclude transactions conducted via Visa, Mastercard, and other credit cards.
