JEDDAH — The relocation of car showrooms, workshops, scrap yards, and junkyards from Al-Jawhara district to Al-Khumra in South Jeddah began on Sunday. This follows serving of a final warning issued by the Jeddah Mayoralty in this regard. Earlier, the mayoralty notified owners and occupants of the sites to vacate or modify their land use in accordance with the approved regulatory guidelines. Sources told Okaz that a large number of owners have begun relocating their businesses to “Car City” in Al-Khumra so as to avoid legal procedures and comply with the new zoning requirements aimed at reorganizing land use in the area. The evacuation decision, according to the Jeddah Mayoralty, was based on directives aimed at organizing and developing Prince Mohammed bin Salman Corridor and its adjacent areas, thereby enhancing the quality of the urban landscape and improving the built environment in southern Jeddah. In its warning, the mayoralty emphasized that all owners and occupants of sites within the designated area must change the land use designation according to the approved regulatory guidelines, immediately remove all elements of visual pollution, vacate the sites, and rectify their conditions to comply with the new use. The mayoralty stressed that in case of non-compliance, the necessary legal measures will be taken, including the on-site removal of violations, while disclaiming responsibility for any damage or losses that may be incurred to properties as a result of the removal and reorganization work.
