Iran may partially reopen the Strait of Hormuz under supervision on Thursday or Friday, ahead of an expected meeting with US officials in Pakistan, Reuters reported, citing a high-level Iranian source.

The source explained that if a framework of understanding regarding the talks is reached, the strait may be reopened under Tehran’s control, noting that the passage of ships will be subject to mandatory coordination with Iranian forces.

He added that the ceasefire truce remains fragile, but emphasized his country’s preference for reaching a lasting peace, while warning that Tehran is prepared to return to escalation if Washington follows the same path.
