RIYADH — Saudi Arabia’s tourism sector recorded strong growth in the first quarter of 2026, with domestic tourists reaching 28.9 million, according to the Ministry of Tourism.The ministry on Wednesday released statistics on domestic tourism performance for the first quarter of 2026, highlighting continued sector momentum.Domestic tourism grew by 16% compared to the first quarter of 2025, reflecting a significant increase in local travel activity.Spending also grew by 8%, reaching SR34.7 billion during the same period. Minister of Tourism Ahmed Al Khateeb said in a post on X that the sector’s strong performance underscores that Saudi tourism “possesses the necessary components and local demand drivers to confront current conditions with confidence and stability, while preserving the foundations of sustainable growth.”
