Key details remain unclear. Iran said it agreed to two weeks of safe passage in coordination with its armed forces and within technical limits, while US President Donald Trump announced a full, immediate and secure reopening. However, it remains unclear whether transit fees have been agreed upon or when the truce will begin.

In a separate post on Truth Social, Trump said the US would help ease congestion.

The vessels have been anchored on both sides of the strait since late February, when war made it unsafe to guarantee security for crews and cargo, as Iran tightened control over the waterway, triggering the worst energy crisis on record.
