AMMAN — A fire broke out Thursday in the free zone at the Nassib border crossing between Syria and Jordan after missile debris fell in the area amid ongoing regional escalation.Syria’s state news agency SANA reported that shrapnel from a missile struck the site, setting several vehicles ablaze.Civil defense teams were deployed to contain and extinguish the fire, with no immediate reports of casualties.The incident comes as tensions continue to escalate following the US-Israeli offensive on Iran that began on Feb. 28, which has killed around 1,300 people so far.Iran has since retaliated with drone and missile attacks targeting Israel, Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf countries, causing casualties and infrastructure damage while disrupting global markets and aviation.
