WASHINGTON — A US Navy warship, believed to be carrying thousands of Marines and sailors, is approaching the Strait of Malacca en route to the Middle East, maritime tracking data showed Tuesday, as tensions continue to escalate in the region.U.S. officials told CNN that the warship is being deployed to the region, but did not disclose its exact destination or mission.The deployment comes amid ongoing hostilities following a joint U.S.-Israeli offensive on Iran that began on Feb. 28.The strikes have reportedly killed around 1,300 people, including then-Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.Iran has responded with drone and missile attacks targeting Israel, Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf countries, causing casualties, infrastructure damage, and disruptions to global markets and aviation.
