RIYADH — More than 1,000 judges from across the Saudi judiciary have enrolled in the Higher Diploma in Civil Law, a specialized training program offered by the Judicial Training Center. The program consists of 21 courses totaling 380 training hours and is delivered by leading experts in civil law.Walid Al-Samaani launched the diploma program last October as part of legislative reforms taking place in the Kingdom under the leadership of Mohammed bin Salman. These reforms aim to strengthen legal protections, reinforce the principles of justice and transparency, and improve the predictability of judicial rulings. The diploma is designed to equip judges with the skills needed to apply the provisions of the Civil Transactions Law with greater precision and to enhance judicial reasoning in civil cases, contributing to greater stability in transactions and more consistent court decisions. The curriculum covers the general theories of obligations, contracts and real rights, alongside practical judicial applications and civil case management techniques.Officials said the integrated approach is intended to improve the quality of legal analysis and strengthen the accuracy of judicial rulings. The first phase of the program targeted judges working in general courts, while the second phase will expand participation to include all Saudi judges and lawyers. The initial cohort is scheduled to graduate in 2026 as part of broader efforts to enhance efficiency and professionalism in the Kingdom’s civil judiciary.
