RIYADH — Saudi Arabia, represented by the National Cybersecurity Authority (NCA), participated in the ad hoc committee session to prepare the draft text of the rules of procedure for the Conference of the States Parties to the United Nations Convention against Cybercrime. The session was held from January 26 to 30 at the UN office in Vienna, Austria. uring the meeting, the committee’s work was completed following the adoption of the UN Convention against Cybercrime. Discussions focused on drafting the rules of procedure for the first multilateral treaty on combating cybercrime under the UN framework in over 20 years and the first legally binding international agreement to combat cybercrime. In recent months, Saudi Arabia, in its capacity as chair of the Arab Cybersecurity Ministers Council’s cyber diplomacy committee, worked with all Arab countries to reach a unified Arab position regarding the draft rules of procedure. The effort reflects Saudi Arabia’s commitment to supporting international initiatives intended to strengthen security and stability in cyberspace and to consolidate international cooperation in combating cybercrime. The NCA is Saudi Arabia’s official body responsible for cybersecurity, serving as the national reference for all cybersecurity matters. It works on enhancing cybersecurity to protect vital interests, state infrastructure, and national security.The authority also represents Saudi Arabia in relevant international, regional, and bilateral organizations, committees, and working groups, while following up on the implementation of the Kingdom’s international cybersecurity obligations.
