RIYADH — Saudi Arabia’s Grand Mufti, Chairman of the Council of Senior Scholars, and Head of the General Presidency for Scholarly Research and Ifta Sheikh Saleh Al-Fawzan lauded the dedication of Saudi leadership in ensuring that the Kingdom remains strong and prosperous. “Almighty God has blessed us in this land with rulers who are extremely keen to ensure that this nation remains strong and proud, relying on God and then on the efforts of its people. What we witness of growth, prosperity, stability, and adherence to the pure Sharia is evidence of this,” he said while chairing the 98th session of the Council of Senior Scholars at the headquarters of the General Presidency of Scholarly Research and Ifta in Riyadh on Sunday. Sheikh Al-Fawzan commended the Saudi leadership for empowering the council to address various topics and issue Sharia-based decisions. He acknowledged the honor of serving the pilgrims at the Grand Mosque, the Prophet’s Mosque, and the holy sites, facilitating the faithful in performing Hajj, Umrah, and visiting the Prophet’s Mosque in peace. For his part, Secretary General of the Council of Senior Scholars Sheikh Fahd Al-Majed said that the agenda of the session includes a number of important topics referred from the Royal Court, the Ministry of Interior, and the Permanent Committee for Fatwas.He said the Council formed advisory committees on the sidelines of the meeting, comprising several Council members and highly qualified specialists, to provide expert perspectives. These committees submitted their reports to the Council for consideration. Sheikh Fahd Al-Majed said the General Secretariat also prepared thorough research papers on the topics included, covering various disciplines, to examine all aspects of these issues. A group of experts was invited to provide their opinions and assessments on certain specialized topics, he added.
