Saudi Gazette reportRIYADH — The King Salman Global Academy for Arabic Language has launched the scientific program of “Arabic Language Month” in Mexico as part of its international efforts to support the teaching of Arabic to non-native speakers and strengthen its presence in global academic institutions. The opening ceremony was attended by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques’ Ambassador to Mexico, Fahd bin Ali Al-Manawer, along with academic leaders and representatives of educational and cultural institutions, coinciding with the launch of the first training courses. The Academy’s Secretary-General Abdullah bin Saleh Al-Washmi said the initiative aims to promote Arabic as a language of knowledge and cultural dialogue within diverse academic environments. He praised the support of Prince Badr bin Abdullah bin Farhan, Minister of Culture and chairman of the Academy’s Board of Trustees, and highlighted cooperation with the Embassy of Saudi Arabia in Mexico in facilitating the program. Al-Washmi said the program supports Arabic language education for non-native speakers through scientific and training initiatives tailored to different educational contexts and learner needs, in line with the Human Capability Development Program under Saudi Vision 2030. The program, which runs throughout January, is being implemented in cooperation with several Mexican institutions, most notably the Monterrey Institute of Technology through its College of International Relations. It targets teachers, learners, and others interested in teaching Arabic to non-native speakers. Activities include a scientific seminar on the status of Arabic language education in Mexico and related challenges, the administration of the “Hamza” academic proficiency test, and scientific and cultural visits. Al-Washmi said the initiative enhances the presence of Arabic in education and scientific research, supporting the objectives of the Human Capability Development Program, one of the programs of Saudi Vision 2030.
