GASTAT releases its Labor Force Survey
Saudi Arabia’s unemployment rate among nationals rose to 7.5% in the third quarter of 2025, up from 6.8% in the second quarter, according to the Labor Force Survey released by the General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT), today, Dec. 29.
The unemployment rate among Saudis is the highest since the third quarter of 2024.
The unemployment rate among Saudi males stood at approximately 5%, while the rate among Saudi females reached around 12.1%.
Meanwhile, the unemployment rate among non-Saudis was 1.4%.
According to Labor Force Survey estimates, the overall unemployment rate for the working-age population rose to 3.4% in Q3 2025, compared with 3.2% in Q2 2025.
GASTAT data also showed that the labor force participation rate for Saudi males rose to 64.3% in Q3 2025, while the participation rate for Saudi females declined to 33.7%.
Regionally, the Northern Borders recorded the highest overall unemployment rate at 6.7%, followed by Aseer at 5.3%. Riyadh and the Eastern Province registered the lowest rates at 2.4% and 2.5%, respectively.
