Bashar AlMalik, CEO of Saudi Railways Co. (SAR), described the railway sector as one of the most complex transportation segments in terms of operational and business allocation. 
Speaking at the 2025 Supply Chain and Logistics Conference, he said the sector requires substantial capital and long investment recovery periods.
He added that this is why governments worldwide, including Saudi Arabia, support railway projects, especially during their establishment and expansion phases.
