Saudi Arabia has recorded continued expansion in its mining sector, with the number of mining licenses rising from 1,985 in 2016 to 2,401 by the end of 2024, achieving cumulative growth of 21%, showed the mineral wealth statistics issued by the General Authority for Statistics for 2024.
The data also revealed an upward trajectory in the number of licenses issued in recent years, as their total reached 2,100 licenses in 2021, a cumulative growth of 6%, then rose to 2,272 licenses in 2022 (14%), 2,365 licenses in 2023 (19%), and 2,401 licenses in 2024 (21%).
