Commercial crude inventories shed one million barrels to stand at 422.8 million barrels last week, missing expectations for a one-million-barrel rise, according to data released by the Energy Information Administration (EIA) on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, gasoline inventories declined by 2.1 million barrels, with distillate stocks—including diesel and heating oil—also decreasing by 1.5 million barrels.
