Foreign direct investments (FDIs) inflows to Saudi Arabia rose by 34% to SAR 1.02 trillion of the second-quarter total.
FDI is defined as an investment that reflects a long-term relationship and sustained interest from economic entities based in an economy outside of Saudi Arabia. This means that a foreign investor holds 10% or more of the voting power of the shares, enabling shareholders to exercise control or influence over decision-making to serve their interests. As such, this process is classified as FDI.
Foreign investments in Saudi Arabia stood at SAR 3.05 trillion by the end of Q2 2025, up 17% from Q2 2024, according to data from the Saudi Central Bank (SAMA).
For the same period, portfolio investments, which include equity, investment funds, and debt bonds, reached SAR 1.19 trillion. Other investments amounted to SAR 841 billion.
