The iron and steel sector has witnessed rapid development, with molten iron production capacity now exceeding nine million tons annually, Bandar Al Sulaim, Chairman of the National Committee for Steel Industry (NCSI) said.
Speaking at the 3rd Saudi International Iron Steel Conference, Al Sulaim said that Saudi Arabia now ranks 20th globally in iron and steel production.
He added that the Kingdom’s output has surpassed 150 million tons over the past 40 years in long and flat steel products, making it one of the largest iron and steel producers in the Middle East.
