Qatar’s Cabinet approved on Oct. 8 the procedures required for ratifying the draft rail link agreement with Saudi Arabia, the Qatar News Agency reported.

On Dec. 14, 2021, the GCC Supreme Council approved the establishment of the Gulf Railway Authority to oversee the project.
The planned railway network, spanning about 2,117 kilometers, will link Saudi Arabia with other GCC member states and is now expected to be completed by 2030.
