Toyota Motor’s global sales rose for the seventh consecutive month in July, driven by strong demand in North America and solid performance of its new hybrid and electric models in China.
Worldwide sales – including the Toyota and Lexus brands – grew 4.8% year-on-year (YoY) in July to 899,449 units, the Japanese automaker announced today, Aug. 28.
Production by the world’s largest automaker also increased 5.3% in July, marking a second straight monthly gain, supported by robust demand in North America and China.
Toyota’s strong sales in 2025 have been boosted by rising demand for hybrid vehicles and a rush by consumers to purchase cars earlier in the year ahead of tariffs imposed by US President Donald Trump on imported vehicles and parts.
Recently, Toyota revised its annual profit outlook downward, warning that net income could be reduced by 1.4 trillion yen ($9.5 billion) due to US tariffs.
The trade agreement between Japan and the US included reducing tariffs on goods, including vehicles, to 15%.
