US crude oil inventories fell for the second week in a row, during the seven days ending August 22.
Data released Wednesday by the Energy Information Administration (EIA) showed that commercial crude oil inventories fell by 2.4 million barrels last week, compared to expectations for a 1.9-million-barrel decrease.
Gasoline inventories dropped by 1.2 million barrels during the same period, and distillate inventories—which include diesel and heating oil—decreased by 1.8 million barrels.
