US crude oil inventories fell more than expected during the week ending August 15.
Commercial crude oil inventories fell by 6 million barrels last week, compared to expectations for a 1.5 million-barrel decrease, data issued by the Energy Information Administration showed.
Gasoline inventories decreased by 2.7 million barrels during the same period, while distillate inventories—which include diesel and heating oil—increased by 2.3 million barrels.
