Qassim Cement Co. signed today, Aug. 14, a contract with Sinoma International Engineering Co. for a $12 million (nearly SAR 45 million) project under the Liquid Fuel Displacement Program (LFDP).

In a statement to Tadawul, the Saudi-listed cement producer noted that the 15-month contract entails the displacement of liquid fuel and its conversion to natural gas for the existing production lines at the Buraidah-based plant site, adopting the latest industry-specific technologies.

The company also expects the project to improve its fuel efficiency, hence impacting positively on production costs. It noted that there are no related parties to the deal.
